These beautiful, all natural sheepskins are from our North Country Cheviot & Katahdin sheep. The pelts are collected after processing then cleaned and cured by hand at our farm in Falmouth, MA before being set out for professional, natural tanning at an all women owned and operated traditional tannery: Driftless Natural Tannery in New Glarus, WI. https://www.driftlesstraditionaltannery.com The skins are returned to us for a few finishing touches before being offered to you!

Our lambs are not sheared pre-processing which makes these pelts super plush with very high pile.* Each skin in unique but they average about 45”L and 24”W with between 4-6” of pile (fluff)! (*Our Katahdin sheep pelts are similar to cow hide pelts and do not have “pile” - but they do have beautiful color and spots.)

These skins can be shipped anywhere in the US or are available for local pick-up in Falmouth. Just select your desired option at checkout. MA sales tax included in price.

BARN OWL - 40”L X 22”W $280.00 - SOLD

The barn owl is the most widely distributed species of owl in the world and one of the most widespread of all species of birds, being found almost everywhere except for the polar and desert regions, Asia north of the Himalayas, most of Indonesia, and some Pacific Islands. We often hear owls after sunset in the woods surrounding the North Pasture.

The eastern towhee is a large New World sparrow. The taxonomy of the towhees has been under debate in recent decades, and formerly this bird and the spotted towhee were considered a single species, the rufous-sided towhee. Their breeding habitat is brushy areas across eastern North America.

The house sparrow is a bird of the sparrow family Passeridae, found in most parts of the world. It is a small bird that has a typical length of 16 cm and a mass of 24–39.5 g. Females and young birds are coloured pale brown and grey, and males have brighter black, white, and brown markings.

The northern mockingbird is a mockingbird commonly found in North America. This bird is mainly a permanent resident, but northern birds may move south during harsh weather.

The American kestrel, also called the sparrow hawk, is the smallest and most common falcon in North America. It has a roughly two-to-one range in size over subspecies and sex, varying in size from about the weight of a blue jay to a mourning dove. A nesting box for the American Kestrel can be found in the east side of the field below the main barn.

The great horned owl, also known as the tiger owl, or the hoot owl, is a large owl native to the Americas. It is an extremely adaptable bird with a vast range and is the most widely distributed true owl in the Americas. We often hear owls after sunset in the woods surrounding the North Pasture.

The eastern phoebe is a small passerine bird. The genus name Sayornis is constructed from the specific part of Charles Lucien Bonaparte's name for Say's phoebe, Muscicapa saya, and Ancient Greek ornis, "bird". The Phoebe is frequently seen around our main barn sitting on the fence posts or in the windows of the old red barn.

BARN SWALLOW - 50”L x 25”W $270.00 - SOLD

The barn swallow is the most widespread species of swallow in the world. It appears to have the largest natural distribution of any of the world's passerines, ranging over 251 million square kilometres globally. It is a distinctive passerine bird with blue upperparts and a long, deeply forked tail. These birds are frequently spotted around the run-in shed in the main pasture and are very active during mowing gobbling up insects tossed up by the mower.

Frequently seen perched on the backs of our sheep gobbling up bugs disturbed by their grazing, Cowbirds are birds belonging to the genus Molothrus in the family Icteridae. They are of New World origin, and are obligate brood parasites, laying their eggs in the nests of other species. The genus was introduced by English naturalist William John Swainson in 1832 with the brown-headed cowbird as the type species.

The Carolina wren is a common species of wren that is a resident in the eastern half of the United States of America, the extreme south of Ontario, Canada, and the extreme northeast of Mexico.

Screech owls are typical owls belonging to the genus Megascops with 23 living species.
